‘Surprised’ AFP brass to allow officials to testify on poll fraud

Following the bombshell testimony dropped by Col. Pedro Sumayo of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Isafp) during a Senate hearing on poll fraud, which caught top military officers by surprise last Tuesday, the AFP yesterday vowed not to bar any of its personnel from appearing before any investigating body, particularly the upper chamber, to shed light on the alleged manipulation of the 2004 and 2007 national elections.

At a press briefing, AFP spokesman Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. said the military organization is taking the Senate inquiry as part of the quest for truth on what really transpired during the 2004 and 2007 elections.

“We are one with the people in quest for truth and justice. In terms of information, documents and resource persons that higher authorities or court of laws may require from us, we will not bar them from appearing,” he stressed.

Burgos added AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr. said whoever has knowledge of the matter being investigated by the Senate may appear..... MORE

‎"commander in chief"? ilehitimo, dalawang beses, na commander in chief. teka lang, paano mo nasiguro na nasira o hindi nakopya lahat ng nasa original wiretapped tapes ninyo? yun bang inilabas ni dir. samuel ong ay walang naitagong kumpletong kopya?

"“When I told him (Capuyan) of the details about what I heard, he told me to destroy the tapes which I also complied by asking (Sgt. Vidal) Doble to surrender the tapes to me. And after he (Doble) surrendered the tapes to me and the papers that go along with it, I destroyed it per instruction of my boss,” he said."
