HLI to seek SC clarification on Luisita distribution
12/04/2011Owners of the disputed Hacienda Luisita sugar plantation in Tarlac province will raise before the Supreme Court (SC) next week two concerns related to the high tribunal’s unanimous November 22 decision for the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to distribute the huge sugar estate to 6,296 qualified farm worker-beneficiaries (FWBs).
The owners will seek SC’s clarification on the date when valuation for the land will be reckoned, Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) spokesman Tony Ligon yesterday told a forum in Quezon City.

hay naku. totoong land reform ang kailangan ng bansang ito. wala na dapat bayaran ang magsasaka pero at dapat hindi pwedeng ibenta at kung hindi, forfeited sa pamahalaan. maaring ibigay sa ibang farmers pero hindi sa mga hacienda owners.
"Ligon, however, downplayed speculations that the owners’ planned move aims to delay the agrarian reform process in their estate.
"He said the owners’ two concerns need to be cleared up as Luisita’s owners believe the land’s valuation must be reckoned from January 2006 when government served them the notice of coverage for their plantation."
