Confirmation of DSWD chief held in abeyance
By Angie M. Rosales 12/08/2011Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman’s first confirmation hearing yesterday was put in hanging after one of the senators moved for a resetting of the proceedings.
Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago sought the deferment of hearing Soliman’s ad interim appointment before the Commission on Appointments (CA) committee on labor, employment and social welfare.
“I regret that I am not able to appear personally and interpellate DSWD Secretary Soliman at today’s hearing because I am in New York campaigning for the post of judge of the International Criminal Court. I will be back in Manila by the end of the week,” she said in her letter to Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte dated yesterday..... MORE
