Palace, troops caution MILF vs ‘coddling’ Basilan commander

Mallari 11/08/2011The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is inviting war with its persistent refusal to yield its fugitive commander, Dan Laksaw Asnawi, which is a violation of the ceasefire agreement with the govern-ment, a Malacañang official yesterday said.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda, in a phone-patch interview, warned that the Muslim group cannot provide protection to Asnawi, deputy commander of the MILF’s 114th base command, because he is considered a criminal by the government and the object of the ongoing military operation in Basilan.
“Insofar as the ceasefire agreement is concerned, it is very clear the MILF cannot harbor criminal elements, that is in violation of the ceasefire agreement,” he stressed..... MORE
