With two major factions in Malacañang pushing and pulling at each other every step of the way, there is little to wonder that an even more intense power play is at work, not just in the Palace but also in the House of Representatives.
The talk today is the possible ouster of Speaker Sonny Belmonte, whose weak leadership in the House is said to be in question, and the justification for his ouster, so it is being bruited about, is the non-release of the pork barrel that was supposedly promised them, for Noynoy to get total support for the impeachment of then Ombudsman Merci Gutierrez.
Obviously, someone else within the Liberal Party (LP) in the House wants to get the speakership, because truth to tell, if the pork barrel hasn’t been released, the fault lies with Noynoy and his Budget secretary, Butch Abad, who is, however, in the Mar Roxas-Balay clique, that is getting more powerful each day.....
