Taiwan summons 2 RP execs over Spratly dispute
By Michaela P. del Callar 04/20/2011Taiwan has summoned two Philippine officials in Taipei to re-assert its claim over the disputed Spratlys after Manila lodged a protest before the United Nations contesting China’s far-reaching claim in the area.
Taiwanese Vice Foreign Minister Shen Ssu-tsun called Amadeo Perez, chairman of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (Meco), a Philippine de-facto embassy, and Meco head Antonio Basilio to the Foreign Ministry on April 18 to reiterate “Taiwan’s sovereignty claim over the South China Sea.”....
