AFP ready to thwart attacks by NPAs as they celebrate rite tomorrow
By Mario J. Mallari 03/28/2011The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has intensified intelligence operations to thwart any attempt from the communist New People’s Army (NPA) to stage atrocities in observance of its 42nd founding anniversary tomorrow.
AFP spokesman Brig. Gen. Jose Mabanta Jr. said that AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr. has instructed all military units to intensify intelligence gathering in connection with the NPA anniversary.
Mabanta, however, maintained that the military has not raised its alert level.
“We have instructions to step up intelligence monitoring and to initiate action to thwart terroristic action emanating from the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF),” said Mabanta..... MORE
