RP offers voluntary return of OFWs in Egypt
By Michaela P. del Callar 02/02/2011As protest actions continue to rage in Egypt, the Philippine government has offered voluntary repatriation to Filipinos who wish to come home or be moved to safer areas.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has given the Philippine Embassy in Cairo the go signal to make immediate arrangements for the repatriation of Filipinos who want to return to the Philippines from Egypt.
The DFA said it is closely monitoring the planned million-strong protest march in Cairo.
It also reiterated its advice to Filipinos there to stay indoors, steer clear of public places, particularly sites of mass protests, and to avoid involvement in political actions.
