Stranded OFWs in Saudi plead for help
An alliance of Filipino migrant rights group in the Middle East yesterday said it has been receiving several requests for assistance and inquiries from 22 stranded Filipinos, mostly women and children, living under a bridge in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Khandara Bridge in Jeddah has been made into a refugee camp for stranded foreign and Filipino migrant workers who hope that local immigration police would apprehend them and eventually deport them to their respective countries. John Leonard Monterona, Migrante-Middle East regional director, said staying under the Khandara Bridge poses dangers to the stranded Filipinos, especially to their children.
