Surveys, surveys FRONTLINE Ninez Cacho-Olivares 02/21/2010 Does anyone still believe in these so-called presidential surveys? Or perhaps the better question would be, doesn’t anyone realize that the surveys are clearly being manipulated and all meant to generate that perception that one frontrunner has pulled away in surveys, or that another frontrunner is statistically tied or two points higher than the other frontrunner? The Yellow TV network released the findings of a survey, obviously commissioned by the Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino, which showed him regaining the lead from Nacionalista Party’s Manny Villar by about 11 percentage points. The survey was reportedly conducted between Jan. 28 and Feb. 3, with 3,000 respondents, or just about a week after the other surveys, such as the Social Weather Stations (SWS), Pulse Asia and the Manila Standard Today ended their survey field work, whose results and timing were fairly questionable and obviously meant to show the leap of one presidential candidate, despite a controversial issue fought in the Senate....
