Peace and order agenda
President Joseph Estrada was crystal clear in his message that peace and order is his top priority in an Erap II administration during his 20-minute proclamation speech at Plaza Miranda. He appealed to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the New People’s Army (NPA) and criminal syndicates to mend their ways and to help unite the country to pave the way for economic progress and alleviate the poor from their misery. Recalling that he defeated the MILF and captured Camp Abubakar and 44 MILF camps, President Erap stressed that from day one he would conduct peace negotiations with both MILF and NPA, but he would negotiate from a position of strength. He then stressed food security, agricultural, education, health and social services and fighting corruption as other key platform goals. He vowed to return to Malacañang.
