Loss of credibility
Admit it or not, presidential surveys and their results are no longer taken seriously, mainly because of the so-called reputable survey outfits’ loss of credibility, owing to various factors, such as their not being transparent with the public on their demographics data as well as their old-style method of face to face interview, not to mention the way questions are asked by field workers who may be partisan, or worse, have been bribed to alter raw data, thus manipulating survey results. That this was a practice then and probably now, can be gleaned from an old ratings fight between two giant networks, with both exposing the bribing ways of the networks to have their ratings rise against the other. One network, GMA, stuck to the old TV survey firm, while ABS-CBN is now using a different research outfit for its rating score. And what do you know? GMA is still tops in the Nielsen Ratings, while ABS-CBN, with its new survey outfit, was reportedly number one, too! ....
