The Commission on Elections has thrown a monkey wrench in Palawan Rep. Baham Mitra’s intention of seeking the governorship of his home province over a question of “residency.”

This may sound or appear absurd to the uninitiated. A Mitra not being a resident of Palawan where his father, the late Speaker Monching Mitra, was rooted since the 1960s after, we’re told, migrating there from his birthplace Baguio City.
