Information war with the Yellows

DIE HARD III

Herman Tiu Laurel
01/08/2010

This war with the Yellow zombies and their brand of thinking is a question of life and death for the Philippine Republic. This is a war that President Joseph Estrada continues to fight on behalf of the people with his candidacy. As is often the case, the first battles should be waged against the disinformation of the Yellows in covering up for the local oligarchic class’ continuously accelerating plunder. Their most successful lie to date has been the supposedly “non-corrupt” Cory Aquino family. But, besides the notoriety of Kamag-anak Inc., every knowledgeable Filipino now knows the origins of the Cojuangcos’ wealth.
During the Spanish period, Gen. Antonio Luna, then chief of staff of the revolutionary army, turned over revolutionary funds to his paramour Ysidra Cojuangco for safekeeping. When Luna was assassinated, the Cojuangcos kept the treasure all to themselves — a tradition of treason and greed that has been kept alive by today’s Cojuangcos, as well as, their Aquino branch. Take Hacienda Luisita, for instance, as this e-mail to us narrates:
“Hacienda Luisita, known in the past as Asia’s largest sugar plantation, had 6,453 hectares. Its expanse (was) reported to be the second biggest contiguous piece of agricultural land in the country. During President Magsaysay’s administration, the hacienda, along with the azucarera, (was) up for sale — President Magsaysay offered the estate to Jose Cojuangco Sr. through Ninoy Aquino — a close friend of Magsaysay. In 1958, Jose Cojuangco Sr. acquired the majority shares of the Central Azucarera de Tarlac, including Hacienda Luisita. Paid not with his own money, the Central Bank of the Philippines and the GSIS provided the funds — P12 million for the azucarera and P4 million for the land. The release of the funds came with the condition that the land would be distributed to the farmers in 10 years. On the 10th year, the Cojuangcos did NOT distribute the land as stipulated. They did the THEFT through political alliances and governmental influence since President Garcia’s time to the present.
“Today, BENIGNO AQUINO III is ready to take charge to make sure that no agrarian reform bill will be legislated or enforced. Driving down the SCTEX today, there is a convenient Luisita exit which takes you to Hacienda Luisita — a hacienda developed into industrial, commercial and residential areas: Golf and Country Club, Industrial Parks 1 and 2, Central Techno Park and other subdivisions. There will be two main thoroughfares and a railway traversing it? So, what’s all this “hoopla?” DEVELOPMENT is the culmination of all the trickeries and the deceits, and to finally rid of all the claims by the farmers to the estate — NO FARMLAND — O FARMERS! THE BOMBSHELL — Hacienda Luisita is (now) a PRIME real estate
“The RAW land was worth P91 billion; in DEVELOPED state, it’s worth P452 billion. This is what (the Yellow Dummy) is protecting! KAYO NA ANG BAHALANG MAGHUSGA!”
The issue is larger than the Cojuangcos alone; it’s about the Philippine feudal- ersatz (fake) capitalist oligarchy. Our good friend Felicito “Tong” Payumo defends the SCTEX “free interchange” to Hacienda Luisita. He says that the same has been done for the Ayalas, Gotianuns, and Yulos at the SLEX. But this is precisely my point: Public funds and projects are designed to largely benefit these oligarchs and their non-productive, import-dependent, consumer-oriented undertakings that primarily raise real estate values and cash flows but relegate infrastructure for agriculture and industry to the lowest priority.
In short, public funds and projects are mostly being geared toward the oligarchs’ enrichment; and this is inherently what the candidate of the Makati Business Club, ABS-CBN and Inquirer really champion.
As the oligarchs have usurped the nation’s resources, the country continues to be de-industrialized and de-agriculturized — and reduced to a mendicant state, with foreign debt and import-dependency rising to unprecedented levels. Yet, the massive disinformation campaign of the oligarch-controlled US and local media has made the Philippine white collar class believe all the myths and lies of an “incorruptible” Cory Aquino. It has really been a very successful “soft” war on the mind of the articulate class so desperate to mouth “opinions” without a real education in historical political economy.
Thus, the controlled media stoke more disinformation, as the Philippine Star on the “impounding of pork barrel” does when he wrote: “If President Arroyo does not veto or reject the prohibition, it will cover her... It will also apply to President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, President Manuel Villar, President Gilberto Teodoro Jr., or whoever would be elected Mrs. Arroyo’s successor, since he will inherit half of this year’s budget.”
Note that there’s no mention of President Estrada — a sure ploy of mainstream media to deliberately omit the stronger candidate’s name.
But this piece is just an example of Yellow journalism in this information war. The reality is, the Yellows are really one and the same as Gloria Arroyo: OF, BY and FOR the OLIGARCHS. After FVR and Gloria cohorts Bert Romulo, Silvestre Bello and Avelino Cruz announced joining the Yellow Dummy’s camp, now comes another Yellow stalwart joining Gloria — Charito Planas. So it’s all really an LP–Lakas-Kampi hodgepodge backed by the oligarchy!
As it was more than a decade ago, only a genuine pro-people, pro-nation president can help the nation be truly liberated.
