Gov’t to resolve massacre; Jinggoy wants compensation law

Malacañang yesterday acknowledged the Aquino government’s  responsibility in resolving the Vizconde killings, with the  authorities  back to square one after the Supreme Court (SC)  acquitted the primary  suspect and the six others in the Vizconde massacre case which spanned  15 years.
Following Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Raul  Bacalzo’s announcement that the Vizconde massacre case will be  reinvestigated, deputy presidential spokeman Abigail Valte said it goes  without saying that the national government has to support this move to  bring the real perpetrators to justice.
“That is the duty of the  government — to close these cases and to make sure that the accused are  brought to justice,” Valte told reporters at a press briefing yesterday.
Valte  said President Aquino has not as yet given any official directive to  the government’s law enforcement agencies on this, after issuing a  statement the other day, asking his officials to prepare a briefer on  this issue
