Palace, military downplay terror angle in Zamboanga airport blast
| 08/07/2010 Malacañang yesterday ruled out the “suicide bombing” in the recent explosion perpetrated by a suspected bomber outside the arrival area of the Zamboanga City International Airport Thursday evening. President Aquino said he has been informed that this particular incident is supposed to be considered an isolated case that is not geared toward instigating a fresh round of terrorist attacks during the first months of his administration. Aquino informed reporters that investigations are now being conducted by government forces led by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Jesus Verzosa in coordination with National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin  and Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo to determine the real motives of the suspect in executing the crime.  He said Verzosa already went to Zamboanga City yesterday to personally oversee police investigations regarding the matter.
