In Kidapawan, North Cotabato Vice Gov. Manny Piñol yesterday expressed alarm over the latest developments in the ongoing peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, baring that the new negotiations between the Government Peace Panel and the MILF include the creation of a Bangsamoro substate.

“We may have put a stop to the MoA-AD (Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain), but with five months left in the Arroyo administration, we may not be as successful this time around,” Piñol warned.

“North Cotabato does not want this ‘enhanced autonomy’ or Bangsamoro substate,” Pinol stressed..... MORE

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago certainly has a penchant for dramatics, for which a lot of Filipinos are truly tired, especially when she walks out of the Senate floor — which she has done too many times.

She was particularly irked at what Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile said in an interview about certain experts who may not have reviewed Philippine and US jurisprudence in censuring a fellow senator.

Testing — the way the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is doing on the field test of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) in selected areas of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao — is hardly a guarantee that the poll automation conducted nationwide will be a breeze.
