THE United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) National Commission of the Philippines (UNACOM) came up with a 16-point policy recommendation for  presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2010 elections that included the conversion of government media network into a public broadcasting system that would serve the people rather than the government.

KIDAPAWAN CITY.– North Cotabato vice-governor Emmanuel Pinol will not give in to the New Peoples’ Army (NPA) demand for payment of a “permit-to-campaign” and “permit to win” despite the latter’s declaration it would continue to launch attacks in Pinol’s stronghold. Pinol said that since he started campaigning for a government post in North Cotabato in 1995 as mayor of M’lang town, he has not given in to the demands of the NPA to pay them any permit-to-campaign and permit-to-win.

Sukad-sukad, I have never given any amount to NPA para makapangampanya. Wala ko gatuo nga ang usa ka opisyal sa gubyerno dapat magbayad sa rebelde (Ever since, I have never given any amount to NPA so I could campaign. I don’t believe that an official of the government should pay the rebels)”, Pinol said in a radio interview. DAVAO CITY.–A government executive here warns of an increasing number of overseas Filipino workers defaulting on their loans from an economic crisis credit facility.

Zenobia Caro, officer-in-charge of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region XI, said she is worried about the low repayment rate among overseas Filipino workers who borrowed from a two-year credit facility.

A day after Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential candidate Gilbert Teodoro resigned as party chairman, Sarangani Governor Miguel  Dominguez  and Francis Manglapus yesterday tendered their  resignations  as party president and secretary general, respectively.

In his letter to the national executive committee of  Lakas-Kampi-CMD, Dominguez said: “I hereby tender my resignation as party president effective immediately. With the recent resignation of our chairman Gilbert C. Teodoro Jr., I would like to give the incoming chairman a freehand to select his new president.
