PPCRV estimates 3.2-M of padded namesComelec junks zombie list cleansingBy Angie M. Rosales 03/04/2010 Despite concrete evidence of massive registration padding, through double, multiple and dead voters listing, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) stood firm on its refusal to clean up the voters list, insisting that it is only the courts that can clean up the list, through exclusion proceedings. Poll officials yesterday said before the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on the Automated Election System that only the courts, and not the Comelec, can cleanse the padded voters list. “We cannot remove them (flying voters) from the list because only the courts can delete the names of the registered voters, through a petition for exclusion,” Comelec executive director Jose Tolentino told the panel. Erap warns of revolt if election fails By Gerry Baldo 03/04/2010
Erap warns of revolt if election fails By Gerry Baldo 03/04/2010 DUMAGUETE CITY— Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino standard bearer former President Joseph Estrada yesterday warned of another popular revolt if the Arroyo government allows the elections to fail. Estrada, speaking before hundreds of supporters at the Quezon Park here, said that he is doubly sure that another revolution is going to erupt in the event of a failure in elections that would allow President Arroyo to remain in Malacañang after her term is up. Out of power
Due to the final ruling of the high court on the issue of Cabinet executives forced to resign their positions, and with her executives having chosen to run for an elective office, Gloria has no choice but to name new Cabinet members from her Palace pool, to the posts vacated. While the Supreme Court (SC)’s reversal on the issue of appointed officials hanging on to their posts, win or lose the polls, until the term of Gloria is up is welcome, the truth is that the ruling, for this election at least, came a bit too late. No worries?
One would think, from the way poll body Chairman Jose Melo speaks, that he is the expert of all automation experts when he tells the media that there is no way the Smartmatic-TIM Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines can be hacked, along with his claim that nothing — save an earthquake — can cause the failure of elections. As for the 40,000 zombie voters found in the final voters’ list in Davao City and Davao del Sur, which would be the same elsewhere in the country, he dismisses this, saying that these are not double registrants but are voters who re-registered in another barangay without canceling their old registration. But hello, some prominent names appearing in that list bared by the PPCRV changed their addresses? C’mon....
