The speakership of Congress
is definitely what Gloria Arroyo had in mind when she decided to run for a seat in a Pampanga district for her to still be “relevant” after her stint in Malacañang in 2010. That conclusion is definitely a no-brainer, in much the same way her becoming the next Speaker is not just to serve as her leverage vis-a-vis the new Malacañang tenant, whoever he may be, but also to start the Charter change moving in Congress.

But knowing Gloria Arroyo, her scheming mind does not stop at simple, easy to deduce moves. It’s certainly a lot more than just seeking the speakership, bribing congressmen and using her new position for leverage against the new president..... MORE

In the latest Pulse Asia survey released to the media yesterday, the results showed Noynoy Aquino still leading, with 45 percent of the respondents’ vote, followed by Manny Villar (25 percent) and Erap Estrada (19 percent) said to be statistically tied in number two.

The Pulse survey on the latest count in the presidential race in essence validates the survey results of The Center, which more or less gave the same numbers.

Interestingly, Estrada jumped by eight percentage points.... MORE

The latest Pulse Asia survey taken Dec. 8 to 10 reports that President Joseph “Erap” Estrada obtained the biggest increase in ratings, from 11 percent to 19 percent. Noynoy Aquino had a one percent increase while Manny Villar increased by 4 percent.

The same survey reported that the number one reason respondents would vote for a candidate is that “he cares for the poor.”

One out of two voters who chose Erap said that he cares for the poor. Erap held on to his Mindanao bailiwick where he got 31 percent of the votes..... MORE
