There are reports that within the Liberal Party (LP) camp that this early, a power struggle is rearing its ugly head among the supporters of presidential candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino and vice presidential bet Manuel Roxas II. That is the apparent reason that despite the lead, which, however, is being whittled away fast, of Noynoy in various surveys, the LP campaign seems heading nowhere. From all indications, the high court is not going to make a decisive ruling on Presidential Proclamation (PP) 1959, which declared martial law in Maguindanao. Same man, same woman, wrong year
The man in the title of this column is Fidel Ramos. In 1992, Ramos became the twelfth President of the Philippines after having served as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) under President Corazon Aquino and as Chief of the Philippine Constabulary/Integrated National Police (PC/INP) under President Ferdinand Marcos. In 1986 he led, with the then-Minister of National Defense Juan Ponce Enrile, the military revolt against Marcos that became the Edsa Revolution. When he stepped down from the Presidency in 1998 he organized a foundation devoted to the study of governance and development issues. The woman in the title is Gloria Arroyo....
